Posting & Filling a Hit

A hit contract is just a bounty on a specific player — a public board entry anyone can see, and anyone can fill by successfully attacking the target. There's no separate "hitman" role; any player who lands the attack collects the payout.

Where contracts come from

Some hits are posted by players directly. Others are posted by NPC crews holding a grudge — an NPC crew that's recently lost territory to you may put a price on your head in response, remembered and acted on over time rather than randomly. Either way, a contract sitting on the board is a real, live target, not flavor text.

Counterplay

If you find yourself with a hit posted on you, you're not defenseless: you can buy the contract off the board yourself to cancel it, and a Bodyguard already blocks a claim attempt for free like it blocks any other incoming attack.

The Marksman's edge

Marksman doesn't get a bigger payout for filling contracts — that's what the skill tree's bounty-reward bonus already covers. Instead, a Marksman gets intel and timing: visibility into a target's city and live status, a head-start window before a new contract goes fully public, and reduced Heat from carrying out a hit. The class's edge is getting there first and getting there clean, not a bigger check at the end.
